A funky sense of formality

Our 16th century pub in the honey-stone village of Ascott-under-Wychwood is a stylish mix of rural chic and professional service.

With wooden beams and floor, eye-catching art, and what The Daily Telegraph calls, ‘a slightly funky sense of formality’.

There’s a very attractive private dining room down a winding corridor that seats up to 20. Meanwhile, outside you’ll find an delightful terrace garden with a wisteria-clad pergola. In short, the Swan offers all the character you hope to find in the heart of the Cotswolds.

WORDS FROM OUR GUESTS

Second visit to the Swan with our dogs. The staff are very friendly, helpful and the dog friendly policy made travelling with two big dogs much easier. We ate in the restaurant: swordfish with ratatouille and a lovely freshly baked pizza…all great! A perfect stopping place in a picturesque village in the Cotswolds.

WORDS FROM OUR GUESTS

The pub was very dog friendly with a dog bed, treats, a toy and bowls in the room. The staff were also very welcoming towards our dog. The double room with a bath was more spacious than expected and had bathrobes, lovely towels and toiletries. We also enjoyed an evening meal in the pub and the continental breakfast was very nice.

It’s a great big, newly updated, spanking bloody excellent Cotswolds pub, I mean that is about the biggest compliment I can muster.

How many pubs-with-rooms also come with a sommelier? Not many, but then everything takes a surprising turn in this attractive former coaching inn.

The food is undoubtedly the main event at The Swan. Obviously hugely popular with the locals, the restaurant was buzzing on a Friday evening.
