The Chequers in Churchill is special. It's the quentissental English gastropub. A beautiful setting, excellent service and great food. We went on a sunny Sunday for the roast which didn't disappoint. A beef, pork and some scampi and a summer salad, thrown back with some cold beer. Terrific.

Yes, dogs are very welcome at The Chequers. It’s a relaxed village gastropub where you’ll often find happy dogs by the open fire while their owners settle in with a drink. We also have a treat jar to welcome our four-legged friends by the front door.
The Chequers doesn’t have its own bedrooms, but our sister pub The Swan, a short drive away in Ascott-under-Wychwood, has eleven individually designed ensuite bedrooms, the perfect base for an overnight stay in the area.
